Escape to the Country host reacts as guest shares tragic reason for move

The latest episode of Escape to the Country featured a moving motivation behind guest Saadia’s decision to relocate to The Jurassic Coast.

On Tuesday’s episode of the popular property show, host Alistair Appleton helped retired teacher Saadia find a new home, leaving her painful memories behind after the loss of her husband Terry five months ago.

Saadia wanted to downsize from her large five-bedroom home in East Grinstead, Sussex, to a more manageable property.

Speaking about her current home, Saadia shared: “Although his spirit is here because he put a lot of love into this place, his physical presence is not here.”

“So I really, really miss that,” she continued, revealing the poignant motivation for her move.

However, in a heartbreaking twist, Saadia suffered a double loss, with her mother passing away just weeks after her husband.

To make her dreams of a fresh start a reality, Saadia was willing to consider both detached and semi-detached properties with a garden, specifically a two-bedroom property close to the sea and amenities, with a £300,000 budget.

In the end, the mystery house left a lasting impression with a beautiful flat that won her heart. Inquiring about her next steps, Saadia expressed her intentions: “I want to look in more detail, ring up the agent for the mystery house,” reports Devon Live.

She added, “It’s worth investigating so that’s my plan of action, that’s what I’m going to do with the mystery house but I’m going to sleep on it first,” explaining her cautious approach.

Alistair then emphasised the significance of the decision, reminding her that this was a “monumental move” as it was the first home she was purchasing on her own to live in, thus the importance of getting it right was paramount.
