Elton John's emotional children admission after fearing he's 'not got long left'

Pop legend Elton John, 77, has shared that his touring days “ended on a high” as he shared that his attention had turned to family life. It comes following a candid admission where he shared that he wasn’t sure “how long he has left”, with the daunting reality occuring to him while songwriting.

Speaking on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, Elton shared what his last tour was like. He told the radio host: “Those last few shows in America were just magical.

“We knew it was gonna end on a high, but all the performances before Dodgers Stadium were just of that quality and then we came back to England and we did Glastonbury which was unreal and then finished the tour off in Europe.

“The quality of the shows were exactly the same because I was so happy, and when I came off stage in Stockholm after the last show and got in the car, David said, ‘How do you feel?’ I said, ‘I feel so happy.’ We went out on the high that I wanted to do.”

Elton shared that the plan for after touring was to spend more time with his family. Scott asked: “I hope you are getting to spend more time with the family, which was the plan wasn’t it?”

To which the rockstar replied: “I am and it’s wonderful. I don’t miss playing live at all. I do not miss playing live. Fact. I do not miss it one iota.

“I’ve done some private shows where I, you know, to keep my chops ready, and that’s been great. But no, I don’t miss it, I dread it.

“I have to keep playing music and I will make other records and I will be doing different sorts of records […] It is the end of the live music, yes.”

It comes as Elton shared fears that he “might not have long left”. During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the Rocketman star shared how he feels about his mortality.

He shared: “Bernie Taupin (Elton’s lyricist) gave me a lyric for a song called, ‘When This Whole World Is Done With Me’, and I’m writing the verse (music) quite quickly, and I think this is a really lovely verse.

“And then I get to the chorus, and I find that it’s about my death, my demise. And as a 76 year old man, which I was at that time, and having children and having a husband, mortality, and you think about,’How long have I got? How long? I hope I’ve got much longer than maybe I’ve got [left].'”
