EastEnders viewers have been left distracted by Walford’s latest character
Eastenders: Big Mo calls George Knight the ‘Walford Whacker’
EastEnders viewers were left gobsmacked after recognising a familiar face from The Bill in recent episodes of the popular BBC soap. On Tuesday (January 21), Ruby Allen’s (Louisa Lytton) past came back to bite her during a council meeting.
Martin Fowler (James Bye) has been rallying the local market traders in a bid to save their market from closing. However, when the council meeting was scheduled, Martin was distracted as he tried to assist Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) with her murder trial.
Ruby stepped up and attended the meeting on behalf of her boyfriend Martin, leaving him hopeful. Martin gratefully accepted, although his fellow market traders remained sceptical as the meeting approached.

It was at this point that Ruby made a stand, asserting that the market was an institution and a significant part of Albert Square.
However, Councillor Barker (Iain Fletcher) soon interrupted her to ask if she was the daughter of infamous gangster Johnny Allen who had bullied his father at school.
On Wednesday (January 22), Ruby had another encounter with Barker at The Minute Mart, but this time he seemed to be flirting and crossed the line.
He eerily suggested Ruby contact him directly online to set up a private meeting, leaving her stunned, reports the Manchester Evening News.
EastEnders fans have been quick to spot a familiar face in Albert Square, as they recognised Councillor Barker actor Iain Fletcher from his days as Rod on The Bill.
Fletcher, who portrayed DC Rod Skase in the iconic ITV cop show for over half a decade starting in 1994, has made quite the impression on viewers.
One fan took to social media, saying: “I’m enjoying the new councillor Barker but I’ll always remember him as Rod from #TheBill #EastEnders.”
Another chimed in with: “Councillor Barker is DC Rod Skase! Iain Fletcher #EastEnders #TheBill @onthebill999 @Iain_Fletcher1.”
A third added their revelation: “I recognized him. I just couldn’t place where from. Mystery solved.”
One more viewer expressed their excitement: “Obsessed with Rod from #TheBill becoming the 2025 villain on his second episode and already making his presence known #EastEnders”.
And yet another asked: “Is that DC Rod Skase in EastEnders? #TheBill #EastEnders”.
