Couple upgrade to 1920s home leaves Ugly House to Lovely House viewers horrified

A couple who gave their dated 1920s home a huge makeover on Channel 4 show Ugly House to Lovely House have left viewers horrified.

Amifa and Amin, from Bellingham in South East London, overhauled their entire home – including painting its exterior some bold colours.

They transformed their traditional brick terraced home into something resembling a property straight from the future.

Opting for steely blue and neon orange paint, the colour choices didn’t go down too well with viewers of the show.

Many said the house was better in its original form and some jokingly re-titled the show ‘Ugly House to Uglier House’.

Others commented on the familiar colours and how the home now reminded them of a B&Q store.

Despite their brave choice, the owners were obviously concerned about the reaction of neighbours.

Amifa told host George Clark: “I’d go orange if I could, it looks beautiful to me.

“I don’t want to offend the neighbours, I don’t want to annoy people.

Despite the negative feedback, the couple were pleased with the final result

“I’m not saying I’d do al the windows that colour, I’d probably do the smallest one just to pop out at you.”

But by the end of the show, every window surround on the house had been painted bright orange.

Viewer Daisy took to Twitter saying: “Ugly house to…ugly house!! Looks like a bloody tin shed and clashes with the others nearby.”

Twitter user, Astril Tifs said: “An unfortunate exemplar.

The house has a steel blue exterior and orange windows

“These types of ‘design’ (orange frames, corrugated cladding) will date and go out of fashion very quickly, leaving a dreadful eyesore on the street.

“And the imagine a whole street of vulgar houses.”

Twitter user @busy1971 said: “It looks like a 40foot shipping container.”
