Limescale on your shower screen is just one of those things that can make your bathroom appear unsightly. It presents itself as a white, chalky film or rust-coloured stain that can be difficult to remove, particularly if they’ve been allowed to harden for weeks or months.
While prevention by keeping your shower screen clean at all times is always the best option, there is a simple way to tackle limescale. Taking to her Instagram account @what.sophie.does, the cleaning influencer shared her go-to natural yet “powerful” solution – and it’s quick. She claimed washing up liquid and baking soda will “bring your shower screen back to new”.
The caption of the post reads: “Removing limescale from your shower screen. This cleaning paste is your answer!
“Mix one cup of baking soda, two tablespoons dish soap, and one-third of a cup of water into a runny paste and keep it in an airtight squeeze bottle.
“This powerful mix and a power brush will bring your shower screen back to new.”
In a more recent post about this cleaning hack, users commented on how quick and easy it is.
One person named @home.with.leanne said: “This is such a great paste, works well.” @ourlittleaussiehouse commented: “Such a great job.”
A second named @susan_homelife wrote: “This works amazingly! Took me just a minute to clean my shower glass like this.”
Bathroom experts at Victorian Plumbing also recommend using baking soda and dish soap.
They said: “You don’t need an expensive, dedicated shower cleaner, household items like baking soda and dish soap can do wonders if used on a regular basis.”
After using these two ingredients, the pros instructed going in with a soft cloth to “bring it back to life”.
