Chelsea Handler revealed that she previously weigh herself ’15 times a day’ to maintain her thin figure.
When asked if she has ever dealt with body image issues while appearing on The Jamie Kern Lima Show, the comedian, 50, recalled feeling self-conscious in her twenties.
‘I would weigh myself 15 times a day. If I weighed a certain amount, I wouldn’t go out that night. I would exercise. I would run for two hours on the beach and then come back and weigh myself to see how much water weight I lost,’ she told listeners.
The bestselling author went on to describe that time in her life as ‘such a waste’ and stated that she regrets spending ‘so many hours’ scrutinizing her body.
‘I hate that every woman in this world deals with that,’ she continued. ‘I hate that our society hasn’t embraced [moving forward]. Even though we’re beginning the conversations, it’s going to take another thousand years for girls to understand everyone is different. You all have different parts. So yes, I am a victim of the very same thing.’
Although she admitted to still caring what she looks like her swimsuit, Handler explained she feels ‘much more freer about the fact that’ she has ‘cellulite.’

The performer, who is currently promoting her new book I’ll Have What She’s Having, insisted that she no longer sees her imperfections as ‘shameful.’
‘I also take really good care of myself because I want to look my strongest and my healthiest. I want to be powerful. I lift weights because I want to be strong and I want to be able to ski like a bada**, you know?’ the former late-night talk show added.
Handler pointed out that she trains ‘all the time’ to ‘be strong for skiing’ and to look good.
‘I’m not somebody that you can excise from that argument and say that I don’t feel that way. I do care about the way I look and I wish we had an answer, but I don’t have the answer for that. I don’t know,’ she stated.
The topic of her evolving relationship with her body image came after discussing how she goes skiing in a bikini every year on her birthday.
‘Sometimes I’ve been topless,’ she said of her trips down the slopes.
Handler acknowledged that the tradition is ‘slightly vulgar’ before backpedaling and saying it actually is not ‘not vulgar — it’s freeing, it’s freeing.’
The star noted that her nieces and nephews asked her to stop going topless.

‘I understand where they’re coming from [but] … to me [it’s] the essence of who I am. Me skiing down a mountain with a joint in one hand, a margarita in the other … in a bikini is exactly who I wanted to be when I grew up,’ she insisted.
Over the years, she has credited weight training for helping her getting lean and strong.
Additionally, Handler has said that exercise has a profound positive impact on mental health, her confidence and helps her relieve stress.
In 2020, she told Women’s Health: ‘I always make sure I have something every three to four hours because a nutritionist once taught me it’s the best way to control your blood sugar levels.’
‘I think when you consistently feed your body, you have less of an inclination to [pig out],’ she advised. ‘I like to eat light and I don’t overdo it now. When I’m eating, I take my time and pay attention to when I’m full.’

During her latest interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show, the the stand-up comedian, who recently stepped out with Ralph Fiennes, also teased that she been dating a mystery man for the past ‘nine months.’
‘I have someone that I’m seeing now that I’m very attracted to and that I like having sex with, and so that’s a really good like nice little thing I have going,’ she said.
‘[But] I don’t think any relationships that I’ve been in [have been] serious. I don’t think of myself as a relationship person. I think of myself as a purpose person.
‘Like my purpose is here, to be here to have conversations like the one we’re having right now, to infuse people with optimism, to be there for women, that is my purpose in this life, whether they’re more lives or not.’
Chelsea added: ‘All I know is I know what I’m supposed to be doing, and any man that’s in my life is not the main character. That’s a side relationship, and I love them, and I want to respect everybody, but that’s not my main M.O. in life. I’m not that kind of person.’
Handler is said to have previously romanced comedian Jo Koy, chef Bobby Flay, hotelier André Balazs, rapper 50 Cent, comedian David Alan Grier, and former Comcast Entertainment Group CEO Ted Harbert.
