Charli XCX has missed out on a place in Spotify Wrapped’s Top 10 Artists Of The Year despite the viral success of her album Brat.
The singer, 32, was beaten by Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and Billie Eilish with the Cruel Summer songstress dominating for a second year in a row.
Charli’s hyper pop-electronic album debuted as the ‘most critically acclaimed record of the year’ surpassing Beyonce‘s latest album Cowboy Carter and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department.
It sparked a nationwide trend branded ‘Brat Summer’, which Charli described as a ‘girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things sometimes’.
She also described a ‘brat girl’ as someone who ‘has a packet of cigs, a [lighter] and wears a strappy white top without a bra’.
But despite the impact her latest album had on music and global culture – she even featured as part of Kamala Harris‘s presidential campaign – the star has not been able to translate that into Spotify streams.

Each year the music streaming service debuts its personalised user experience, providing a breakdown of what each person has listened to and which artists, genre, or song has been their favourite.
Instead, the likes of Drake, Travis Scott and Kanye West made it into the top ten most streamed artists globally.
Charli released a series of hits including 365 and Apple which were accompanied by viral TikTok dances as well as a remix follow up album with guest feature such as Billie Eilish who she collaborated in on Guess.
But none of her smash hits managed to make it to the list either.
Instead, Sabrina Carpenter took the top spot with her catchy song Espresso and was closely followed by Benson Boone’s smash hit Beautiful Things.
Billie Eilish’s Birds of a Feather also made the cut for most viral songs alongside Good Luck, Babe! by breakout star Chappell Roan.
Too Sweet by Irish star Hozier featured in seventh position while Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s surprise duet Die With A Smile took the tenth spot.
And while critics lauded Charli’s exciting new album, she didn’t manage to beat pop sensation Taylor Swift who dominated Spotify Wrapped’s most streamed albums with The Tortured Poet’s Department in top spot, followed by 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in sixth, and Lover coming in at eight.

This is not the first time Charli has been snubbed.
In November, the singer was completely left out of the MTV EMA awards, failing to scoop up any gongs despite being nominated for five.
Receiving nominations for accolades including Best Video and Best Collaboration, the singer lost out to Taylor Swift on both occasions.
Charli lost out to Ariana Grande who scooped the award for Best Pop and was left empty handed once again as RAYE took home the award for Best UK and Ireland Act.
Meanwhile Taylor’s hit Fortnight which featured Post Malone pipped Charli to the post for both Best Video and Best Collaboration as it triumphed against her Guess collaboration with Billie Eilish.
The Fancy singer has divided critics and fans alike and despite making waves on social media, has struggled to translate that into impressive stats.
This was made obvious during her SNL performance last month which fans slammed after hearing her use auto-tune.
Taylor also claimed the sixth and eighth spot with 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and Lover

But the pop star has previously admitted she’s ‘not a great singer’ and explained she uses Auto-Tune to automatically measure and correct her pitch during performances.
Charli who pulled double duty hosting NBC’s long-running sketch show – first took to the 30 Rock stage to rap-sing her hit 360 against a neon-green ‘Brat Wall.’
Viewers rushed to the comments section under SNL’s YouTube to express their opinions on Charli XCX.
They wrote: ‘This is definitely not a song for the SNL stage,’ user @_gokceada admitted.
‘And for people are saying her vocals suck, it’s just the style of the song. She has plenty of songs that prove she can sing, but 360 is a fun song, and [there] are other strong and emotional on Brat and her previous albums.’
User @a1d4nnn agreed: ‘Yeah, I like 360 but it’s definitely not an SNL stage song.’
And fan frustration meant that the star delivered the smallest audience for the comedy show to date, only pulling in 4.29million viewers – the lowest since Jake Gyllenhaal hosted six months earlier.
But it’s not all doom and gloom for the electro-pop star who scooped an impressive seven nominations at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
