Channel 4 Gogglebox star's brutal snub to shocked co-star after surprise exit

Gogglebox alum Joe Baggs recently shared that his former co-star Stephen Webb declined an invitation to appear on his podcast.

The snub stunned Joe as he believed they had a close friendship. Joe and his family – brother George, mum Lisa, and dad Terry – appeared on the hit Channel 4 series from seasons 16 to 19 before stepping away in 2020.

Joe co-hosts popular podcast, Not My Bagg, where he has welcomed stars like Rylan Clark, Pete Wicks, and Katie Price.

However, Stephen’s absence left Joe puzzled. “There are some cast members where, like we thought we were close to it,” Joe explained. “And then I’ve asked them to come on our podcast afterwards, and they’ve declined, and I’ve been a bit like, ‘Oh, so whatever.’”

When asked directly, Joe confirmed that Stephen, 53, had declined the invitation, with no explanation provided. “I asked him to come on, and the management declined, and I thought it was really strange,” Joe told The Sun.

He added that it felt “strange” not to hear back from Stephen, particularly because of the close-knit nature of the Gogglebox cast community.

Meanwhile Stephen, who exited Gogglebox in 2023, may make a return to the hit show. Stephen, 53, often shares glimpses into his personal life with his social media followers and recently posted a video of himself skydiving.

During a recent Q&A session with fans, one asked the Channel 4 star: “Will you ever go back to Gogglebox? You are my favourite, to which he responded: “Never say never.”

Over the summer Stephen made waves on Celebs Go Dating, candidly discussing his “quiet quitting” approach to his marriage. The reality TV star sought love on the Channel 4 programme after his six-year marriage with Daniel Lustig came to an end.

Delving into the dissolution of his marriage, Stephen disclosed: “I’ve got to accept what has happened between me and my husband Daniel and I am still working through that.”

He further revealed: “I had been quietly quitting it for over a year. I stopped feeling it. I felt like life was ticking by and I wanted a new adventure.”

Despite parting ways as a couple, Stephen shared that he and Daniel, 48, remain “best friends” and still live together. “We get on so well,” he said. Daniel agreed, adding: “You really get to know someone and yourself, and it was really good for a really long time, and then it kind of petered off, and then we kind of decided the best thing was to end as friends.”

The duo, who had exchanged vows amidst the grandeur of Chateau de Lisse in Lot-et-Garonne, France, decided to call it quits last year, making their separation public in April, following six years of matrimony.
