Britney Spears' sister Jamie Lynn set to compete in a charity softball game to 'raise money for female athletes'

Britney Spears‘ younger sister Jamie Lynn is set to compete in a charity softball game at the University of Louisiana Monroe to raise money for female athletes.

The 33-year-old actress, best known for her role as Zoey Brooks on the Nickelodeon sitcom Zoey 101, will be helping to raise funds for the public university on Saturday.

General admission tickets to watch the former child star start at $40. For an additional $20, she will also be signing autographs immediately following the game.

Last month, Jamie Lynn revealed she was participating in the fundraiser because she is ‘raising a young female athlete.’

‘I was honored when @ulm_softball asked me to participate in an event that helps raise money for other female athletes, especially right here in my home state #LOUISIANA,’ she wrote on Instagram.

She continued: ‘I’m going to be fangirling over these superstar athletes that my daughter also looks up to!’

‘If y’all wanna help support female athletes, then get your friends, family, & teammates together, and come join us for a fun night of softball with absolute legends (& me attempting to not embarrass my daughters),’ she concluded. ‘See y’all there, wish me luck.’

Jamie Lynn’s teenage daughter, Maddie Briann, who she shares with ex Casey Aldridge, is a softball player and accomplished student.

Last summer, Maddie’s team won the World Series championship.

Earlier this month, Jamie Lynn told her Instagram followers that she began working out at BASE Sports Performance.

‘Wanna change ya life? Let an athlete train you! I was inspired after seeing the positive changes in Maddie once she started training at @base_sports_performance & following the customized regime they create for each client…. I can’t quite keep up with Maddie yet, but I love a challenge,’ she captioned footage of herself at the gym.

In addition to Maddie, 16, Jamie Lynn shares a daughter named Ivey Joan, six, with her husband Jamie Watson.

Jamie found out she was pregnant with Maddie at age 16, shortly after wrapping her series Zoey 101, in a gas station bathroom near her family home of Kentwood, Louisiana.

‘I knew I had a lot of young girls who looked up to me and I felt that responsibility but at the end of the day I knew i would have to make a decision as a young girl myself, to do something that I could sleep with at night,’ she said during the documentary, titled When the Lights Go Out, back in 2016.

‘I knew deep down that I was going to have my little girl, even if I had to raise her on my own, which is what I did,’ she explained.

’There was so much chaos when I made my announcement, It was a real scandal situation at the time,’ she recalled.

Jamie Lynn said she hid in a house with security guards for three weeks until the Us Weekly story broke before deciding what to do next.

‘I bought some land and put a big a** gate around it. I was a child then and I needed to grow up.’

In her 2021 memoir, Things I Should Have Said, Jamie Lynn, recalled getting bombarded with people telling her she was ‘just too young’ and didn’t know what she was doing.

Jamie Lynn also detailed the agony of telling her parents of her pregnancy, which entailed them allegedly pushing her to have an abortion, or to put her child up for adoption back in 2007.

She noted that multiple members of her inner circle came into her room to tell her ‘having a baby at this point’ in her ‘life was a terrible idea.’

Others, who she says ‘wanted to make this issue’ disappear, told her: ‘There are pills you can take. We can help you take care of this problem… I know a doctor.’

‘Everyone was certain that termination would be the best course of action,’ the mom-of-two wrote.

To prevent the public from finding out, the actress said her father Jamie and mother Lynn (née Bridges) took away her phone and said she wasn’t even allowed to tell her older sibling she was expecting a baby girl.

‘I needed her more than ever and she wasn’t able to help me in my most vulnerable time,’ Jamie Lynn said of her sister, Britney. ‘To this day, the hurt of not being able to tell my sister myself still lingers.’

Despite her hesitancy, she said her management team forced her to do an exclusive interview with Us Weekly to break the news and share the first photos of Maddie.
