Britney Spears revealed her hair and eyebrows were singed off following an incident with her fireplace.
The pop singer, who turns 43 today (December 2), shared details about the mishap on Instagram at the end of September. Recounting the events with a “British” twang, Britney divulged how a routine act of lighting her fireplace almost led to her getting scorched.
“I was in my room and I turned the fire on and, all of a sudden, it blew up in my face,” confided Britney in the footage.
“The times it’s done it before, I quit so I always get my security to come in and light it for me because I was scared it was going to blow up,” she continued. “This time, I just threw the whole thing in there and it blew into my face and took all my eyelashes off and my eyebrows.”
Britney went on to explain that a backdraft from the fireplace was responsible for singeing her locks.
“And see this baby hair? These baby bangs? This is from six months ago. It fizzled all my hair,” she articulated.
The pop icon also shared that she briefly feared a trip to the hospital might be necessary, adding: “The person I was with would not wake up, and I thought I’d have to go to the emergency room because my face was on fire.”
The Baby One More Time hitmaker explained the pain she felt in the moment, revealing that she feared serious burns as “it hurt to just touch” her face.
Describing what she called “six or seven hours” of agony from the incident, Britney found relief only after taking some over-the-counter medication.
“Finally, I took three Tylenol,” she disclosed. “Which is like a really, really big deal for me. It’s like a f–king Vicodin or something. But I took three and finally I went to sleep.”
While the ‘Toxic’ singer did not clarify if she sought medical attention, she assured her followers that she has since recovered.
“It was really bad, but all is good now,” she revealed. “It happens.”
Back in May Britney was pictured barefoot and topless, clutching a blanket to protect her modesty, leading fans to question whether she was on the verge of another breakdown.
The incident saw paramedics called in the night to the 5-star Chateau Marmont after Britney had suffered a panic attack and badly injured her ankle.
However, ahead of her 43rd birthday, Britney has sworn off “toxic men” and vowed to stay single after splitting with convicted felon Paul Richard Soliz.
“[Britney] will be healing from her trauma for a very long time,” a source revealed to Page Six. “But she is done with men for now and focusing on herself.”
The insider added: “[Britney] is sober and does not do drugs. She has a glass of wine now and then, but she does not have a substance abuse problem and has people around her to make sure that she stays on the straight and narrow.”
