Plagues of locusts, frequent asteroid flybys and conflict in the Middle East are all evidence of the world approaching collapse, according to some militant Christians. One of the main purveyors of the doomsday claim is evangelist Paul Begley from West Lafayette in Indiana, US. The Christian preacher is a fervent believer in biblical prophecy of the end times and frequently urges his followers to prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. The doomsday prophet has now warned humanity is living out its “last days” as plagues of crop-devouring grasshoppers descend on Saudi Arabia.
Pastor Begley said: “Unbelievable, unbelievable information. The locust is multiplying 20 times more than it was.
“It’s expanding, it’s taking over the Middle East. What? Can we get a song?
“And what does the Bible say about the locust crawling out of the bottomless pit in the final days?
“Sadi Arabia is plagued with locust. It’s Jerusalem’s cry. We’re in the last days.”
Earlier this month, a locust plague of “biblical proportions” descend on Saudi Arabia and flooded across the border into Jordan.

On Friday, May 3, the United Nation’s Locust Watch tracker warned hordes of Desert Locust were breeding in Saudi Arabia and Iran.
The agency said: “Several swarms moved to Najran, Saudi Arabia, in the past few days.
“A few small adult groups moved from eastern Yemen to northern Oman where they laid eggs in April and limited control operations were conducted.
“Small-scale breeding is expected to continue in Oman.”
According to pastor Begley, this is evidence of a doomsday prophecy described in the New Testament’s Book of Revelation.

The Book of Revelation is the final book of the Christian Bible and describes the world’s ultimate demise at the hands of God.
The US preacher, in particular, pointed to a passage in the Book of Revelation, Chapter 9, which prophesies swarms of deadly locust emerging from the ground in the end days.
The biblical passage reads: “The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth.
“The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace

“The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss.
“And out of the smoke locusts came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth.
“They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.”
In pastor Begley’s opinion, the cataclysm described by the Book of Revelation is currently unfolding in the Middle East.
He said: “This is the end time, these plagues that are on Saudi Arabia, these plagues that came on Mecca, these plagues that are headed to the Red Sea are a precursor of the last days.”
