BBC Strictly's Katya Jones and Wynne Evans' true colours 'exposed' after public apology

Strictly Come Dancing has once again made headlines after viewers spotted an awkward moment between Katya Jones and her opera singer Wynne Evans.

Body language expert Judi James has revealed the pair’s true colours following their apology video several minutes after the incident.

During Saturday’s live show, as host Claudia Winkleman revealed this week’s voting lines were open, Wynne, 52, put his arm around Katya, 35, only for her to knock his hand away as it moved along her waist.

A second awkward interaction saw the pro dancer appear to shun her celebrity partner’s attempts at a high five after Sam Quek and Nikita Kumzin’s performance.

While both Katya and Wynne dismissed viewers’ concerns and insisted on a “strong friendship,” the expert admitted the dancing duo’s initial aftermath was difficult.

In a video posted to Instagram, they apologised for the odd moments, saying they were just “messing around”.

Judi has shared her thoughts on the suspected tension between Katya and Wynne, as she told Express Online: “They both looked tense and rather chastened. Wynne adopted an apologetic expression to say ‘sorry,’ while Katya’s ‘smile’ seemed to involve some clenching of the teeth.

“There were no signs of “shared” signals between them to hint at the kind of powerful bonhomie and mental synchronicity they’d need to enable them to create some kind of standing joke that was appropriate for the cameras around what looked very much like some deeply unfunny behaviours.”
