Anya Taylor-Joy never shies away from making a statement and her latest outing has proven she’s the queen of a particularly OTT trend.
We don’t know about you, but the yeti coat—a hulking faux fur coat, reminiscent of the furry exterior of a cave monster—has been popping up all over our feeds lately.
More extreme than the mob wife coat, which leans more ’80s with a fur collar and cuffs, the yeti coat is a hulking faux fur style, often in floor-sweeping proportions, that piles on the fuzz, obscuring everything underneath.
Earlier this month, Hailey Bieber wore not one, or two, but three giant furry coats just in January as she rang in the New Year, celebrated Rhode launches and went for a ski trip in Aspen with pal Kendall Jenner.

It’s easy to see why celebs like Hailey have fallen for the OTT faux fur coat. The statement piece helps you look dressed up no matter what you’re wearing underneath, even if it’s just just some lingerie. It’s no wonder the stylist Scandi set have adopted the trend over Copenhagen Fashion Week, putting their own colourful spin on it.

But yesterday while attending her various press obligations in NYC, Anya Taylor-Joy took the yeti coat trend to a whole new level, stepping out in a McQueen coat so giant, you could almost see it from space. The impressive piece featured exaggerated shoulders that then narrowed down at the hips. We also love that the coat is made from natural shearling, a renewable resource—and a byproduct of the meat industry that’s biodegradable, so it won’t end up sitting in landfill forever. Leave it to Kering Group, McQueen’s parent company widely lauded for its sustainability initiatives, to come out with the most eco-friendly, yet stylish option.
