Angelica Huston has revealed she faced a ‘bout with cancer’ a few years ago.
The American actress, director and model is best known for starring in Crimes and Misdemeanors, The Witches and the Addams Family films.
Across her career she’s won a string of accolades, including an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award, as well as nominations for three Baftas and Emmys.
However, the 73-year-old has now spoken for the first time about a ‘serious’ cancer scare in 2019, which was discovered just after the release of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
‘That was a very serious moment for me,’ she told People about her ‘bout of cancer’, which she received the all-clear on two years late.
‘I managed to survive it, and I’m proud of myself.’

‘It’s not something that came lightly,’ she added about her diagnosis, the type of which she’s chosen to keep private.
She continued: ‘It came as a big shock, but it made me conscious of what I shouldn’t do, of places I shouldn’t go. One of those places was taking life too seriously. So now when the opportunity arises, I laugh, and I try not to make a big deal out of things.’
A few years on, Angelica has said she was ‘very proud of myself’ and felt ‘very lucky’, whilst also praising her ‘wonderful doctors’.
After six years of keeping her cancer diagnosis private, the actress said she’d decided to speak about it in the hopes of helping others.

She explained there was ‘a lot to be said for talking about it and getting it out there and celebrating the fact that one’s come through’.
Angelica will next be seen in the adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Below Zero, in which she plays Lady Tressilian.
The ‘scandalous’ thriller centres on an ‘explosive love triangle, a formidable matriarch and a house party of enemies’ and also stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Ella Lily Hyland.
With no signs of slowing down, Angelica was also asked if she was considering retirement, to which she replied: ‘I can’t imagine such a thing.’
