Meghan Markle misses the life she had before meeting Prince Harry, a body language expert has claimed.
With Love, Meghan dropped on Netflix today (March 4) and features the Duchess of Sussex, 43, as she cooks and hosts for a number of her celebrity friends.
Among those are Meghan’s former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, her makeup artist and friend Daniel Martin, and American actress Mindy Kaling.
During episode one of her new eight-part series, Meghan was joined by her “dear friend” Daniel, who is referred to as “uncle” by her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Body language expert Inbaal Honigman studied the former Suits star’s behaviour during the scene with Daniel, claiming she was “nervous” about having the interaction filmed as they perhaps couldn’t be their “full selves” on camera.
Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, Inbaal continued: “The conversation comes into its own when the pair start reminiscing about the origins of their friendship, and how much fun they had when they first met – this is when Meghan looks directly at Daniel, remembering her life.
“There’s a stark, brutal difference between no-eye-contact Meghan blending a home-made tea and boiling a traditional kettle on a stove, and yes-eye-contact Meghan talking about her acting and her old blog and all the fun she had when she was working on Suits. It appears that she identifies more with the life she used to have, than with the life she is living through right now.”
Meghan then suggested life since starring in Suits has been hard after exhibiting a tell-tale sign.
The body language expert said: “As they’re cooking together, Meghan recounts doing her make up alone after she was no longer working on Suits, she recalls texting Daniel for advice, and as she remembers it, her brow furrows, as if her life since those days has been hard on her.
“When Daniel says ‘thank you so much for having me’, he gazes directly at Meghan. When she responds ‘I’m so happy you’re here’, she’s staring intently at her cake, eyes lowered. There’s no eye contact, and it shows her discomfort in the situation.”
Inbaal concluded: “The first episode of Meghan’s Netflix series shows us that the Duchess is lost in her life, and misses her old life.”
Opening up about her friendship with Daniel, Meghan recalled: “When it comes to Daniel, we’ve been friends for maybe 15 years.
“When I first had my job on Suits, and I started going to events, he was doing my makeup for that. We far transcended make-up and just became friends. And he has just been in my life for before, during and after, shall we say, and he’s very much a mainstay.”
Speaking of Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, she added: “Uncle Daniel, the kids call him.”
