Permai the lonely Asian elephant crosses the Nullarbor to join South Australian herd – video

Perth zoo’s last remaining female elephant is on an estimated 36-hour trip to join other Asian elephants at Monarto safari park in South Australia to create a new regional herd. The elephant is being accompanied by an expert team of veterinarians and her beloved keepers, who will be monitoring her the entire way via CCTV streaming to a support vehicle. Her crate is not only insulated, but has been fitted with air conditioning, plenty of snacks and over 1,000 litres of water
