Samsung has officially unveiled its Galaxy S25 range of flagship phones but one anticipated model was missing: the S25 Slim.
As expected, the first big Unpacked launch event of the year unveiled the S25 series but the heavily rumoured Galaxy S25 Slim was a no-show.
This seems odd for a couple of reasons. The first is that rumours in the smartphone world don’t tend to be wrong. Second, Samsung’s teaser invite for Unpacked showed the corners of four handsets meeting, suggesting that four models would be announced.
An unveiling would have meant that Samsung was out of the gate ahead of Apple, whose own slim flagship – the iPhone 17 Air – is rumoured to arrive this year.
What is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge?
Still, as we suspected might happen, Samsung did do a little ‘one more thing’ teaser at the very end of the Unpacked event, as it did with the Galaxy Ring a year ago.
So although it appeared that there were only three S25 models unveiled, Samsung simply held the fourth one back until we thought it was all over.
Instead, we got a quick glimpse but no discussion of the Galaxy S25 Edge. This might be the S25 Slim under a different brand name, although it only has two rear cameras, compared to the rumoured three.
It does seem to have a similarly thin profile but resurrecting the ‘Edge’ branding from phones of old, including the Galaxy S7 Edge from 2016, is confusing as those models were notable for the curved screens at their sides.
Will Samsung still launch the Galaxy S25 Slim?
The fact that the Galaxy S25 Slim didn’t make an appearance at Unpacked doesn’t mean it will never happen.
As mentioned above, it seems that it might simply have been renamed the Galaxy S25 Edge instead. It looks similar to the Slim leaks, even though Samsung only showed a very brief glimpse of it at the end of the presentation.
It’s clear that the S25 Edge is coming later because Samsung didn’t even say a word about it on stage, instead simply ending Unpacked with the short Edge video.
After all, the FE ‘fan edition’ models always arrive many months later, so this one may as well. We wouldn’t be too upset if it replaced the troubled FE range.

I think it’s possible Samsung decided against the ‘Slim’ branding because it’s simply not slim enough when compared to the other S25 models.
The S25 comes in at just 7.2.mm, with the S25+ and S25 Ultra measuring in at 7.3mm and 8.2mm respectively.
The S25 Slim (or perhaps S25 Edge now) is rumoured to be around 6.4mm, so is that really enough to warrant the name?
Details in an exclusive from Phone Arena could well support the idea that the Slim may be the Edge. According to the article, the Slim may never arrive in the US, following news that it could be delayed until May. The article still lists 39 markets where it will launch, including the UK.
We will, of course, update you when we hear more about the Galaxy S25 Edge.
