Zoe Ball has flown to New York City just days after finishing her last BBC Radio 2 show.

The DJ signed off her final ever radio show on Friday, she told fans: ‘It’s been a real privilege to keep you company through your morning manoeuvres.

‘You’re just there and I’m just here having a chat with a mate. It’s such a special intimate relationship. It’s never lost on me.’

She told fans as she finished the show that she’s flying to see her son Woody, 24, with her daughter Nelly, 14 – who she shares with ex-husband DJ Fatboy Slim – while asking listeners for their pre-Christmas plans.

She then shared a post of her kids – Woody and Nell, on an ice skating rink and spent time exploring the snowy city.

Zoe captioned the post: ‘Fairytale of New York

‘Dear Scott will look after you in the New Year. He’s one of the good’uns. You’re going to have a lot of fun together. I’ll see you in the spring, popping up here on air on Radio 2 for new adventures.

‘As the song says: “You give a little love and it all comes back to you.” Well I’ve most definitely felt that love from you listeners. I feel very lucky to have been here. I send buckets of love out to you and your dear ones this Christmas. It’s been very special.’

Scott previously called Zoe ‘the best of the best’ while she was also described as ‘one of the kindest people in the BBC’, as they thanked Zoe for being ‘you’.

Scott filled in for Zoe earlier this year during her unexplained absence.

The absence took place soon after the star lost her mum Julia in April. Zoe described how she was ‘bereft’ but said her mum’s smile and grace would ‘light the stars to guide us’.

It was also revealed that she was facing a long-term battle with a chronic health condition, temporomandibular joint disorder, otherwise known as TMJ, which causes pain and tenderness in jaw joints.
